Swimming for Over 55s at Total Fitness

We offer a wide range of water based activities including swimming lessons for our over 55 members which cater for all swimming abilities.

Total Swim

If you are over 55 and can swim then you may be interested in Total Swim, a new concept for the poolside.  Total Swim is a programme of progressive colour coded cards for you to follow which will give you a total water workout.

If you take part in Total Swim you choose your own level, white, blue or red, take the card and the equipment needed and begin your workout.  We would always advise you to work at your own pace, and follow the programme as best you can to ensure you achieve the desired results.

Adult Swimming Lessons

If you are over 55 and would like to learn to swim then here at Total Fitness we provide lessons for beginners which can help to improve confidence and install the foundations of swimming.

If you can already swim but would like improve their swimming technique, or learn new strokes there are swimming lessons available for you also.  Swimming is also one of the best ways to keep fit as when you swim you use many of the muscles in your body with very little stress on your joints, ideal for our over 55 members.
 
At Total Fitness we pride ourselves on the fact that our adult swimming lessons are fun, enjoyable and structured to enable you to work are your own pace.  Adult swimming lessons take place at various times throughout the day and evenings, contact your local Total Fitness for more information.

Adult Fitness Sessions

Our adult fitness sessions aren’t technically a swimming lesson but they are ideal if you want to complement your gym workout with a water fitness session.  If you are in training for a triathlon or a number of other sporting events, these sessions will be perfect as they help to improve your overall fitness, stamina and stroke.

If you want to take part in these sessions you need to be able to swim at least 50m of a recognised stroke.

1 to 1 Swimming Lessons

If you feel you need a bit of a head start, perhaps there is a particular skill you want to overcome or just think you would be more comfortable in a one on one situation, then 1 to 1 swimming lessons are for you.  If you have reached a certain age and still haven’t learnt to swim it can be very difficult to sum up the courage to start learning again and here at Total Fitness we understand this.  All of our staff are equipped with the skills to help you no matter what your age.

Each Total Fitness health club runs 1 to 1 swimming lessons at different times throughout the week so speak to your local Total Fitness if you are interested in signing up.

Total Technique Sessions

Total swim is a 12-month rolling programme of swimming technique sessions. It covers all strokes and many of the skills that accompany them. The swimming sessions are held once per week; however you do not need to attend all the sessions.

If you can swim one length of the stroke being taught and would like to improve your technique, please enquire at reception in your local Total Fitness.
