Swimming at The Total Fitness Academy

We offer a wide range of water based activities for members, catering for all ages and swimming abilities.

Children's Swimming Lessons

We will teach your child a wide range of skills which results in a competent, confident and safe swimmer who will have a love of swimming and a skill base to develop further techniques in a wide range of water-based sports.

The Total Fitness Swimming Programme is delivered by professional, highly trained, motivated teachers who passionate about teaching swimming.

All our lessons are safe, fun, progressive and comprehensive. All swimmers are given a swimming lesson Progress Card which allows parents/guardians to continually monitor their child's progress and keep in touch with what is being delivered during a lesson.

All swimmers are continuously assessed and badges are awarded when achieved.

Swim a SongTM

Total Fitness offers Swim a SongTM which is an fun, innovative and effective programme for introducing adults with babies or very young children to the exciting world of aquatics.

Swim a SongTM uses instantly recognisable nursery rhymes and songs and by changing the words has created a fun programme of movement and actions working with the music.

Swim a SongTM incorporates water safety, free movement, structured play, exercise to music, and guidance in physical and educational development throughout the three stages of the programme.

Each stage concentrates on a theme incorporating movement through song and rhyme, with actions relating to various water skills, allowing the child to complete a task successfully through play.

*Swim a song is open to non members.

Adult Swimming Lessons

It is never too late to learn to swim or to improve already acquired skills. Swimming is one of the best ways to keep fit as when you swim you use many of the muscles in your body with very little stress on your joints.

Adult lessons are tailored to suit the individual within a group of swimmers of a similar ability. Adult lessons take place at various times throughout the day and evenings.

Adult Fitness session

Whether you just want to complement your gym workout with a water fitness session or you are wanting to take part in a triathlon, these sessions are great for improving your overall fitness, stamina and stroke. Adults must be able to swim at least 50m of recognised stroke. These sessions are not swimming lessons.

1 to 1 Swimming Lessons

1 to 1 swimming lessons are a more intense swimming lesson. If you feel you need a push start, have a particular skill to overcome or just think you would be more comfortable in a one on one situation, then 1 to 1 swimming lessons are for you.

1 to 1 swimming lessons run at various times throughout the week to fit in with your lifestyle. If you would like to attend 1 to 1 swimming lessons, please fill out a 1 to 1 form at reception.
